While at one time you could need loaded your site with invisible keywords that didn’t factor into the content, google search engine intuition has gotten to the point where it can tell when you are using these so-called “black hat” marketing techniques. Using “black hat” techniques can immediately looking your site banned from the google search engine altogether, and that is a deathblow to any future success.

In order to take fewer chances and looking your site noticed for the right reasons, you need to be pouring all your energy and passion into the content itself. We, as search marketers, should spend most of the time creating, measuring and adapting the best performing keywords and ads, for our customers. In fact, one of the most time consuming activities in a PPC management company is the daunting task of ad testing. Nowadays, bid management can be automated, keywords research is not as hard as it used to be and reports customization it’s a trend.
However until now, no “big” players on PPC management software came on the market with an ad testing management tool.
We invest and spend lots of time in testing ads, simply because it’s a major part of our PPC optimization process. And testing ads takes time; create, test, analyze and again.
Of course, if you manage a small account (5-10 ad groups, with 10-20 ads) managing the tests won’t be a problem for you (choosing the winner, it will be an issue, if you have more than one ad in your ad adgroups).
What if you have hundreds or thousands of highly targeted ads, split across various ad groups? How do you manage the test? Normally, you would create at least two ads per adgroup, and after one/two/three/whatever weeks you look at the performance and, “hmm, this ad has a conversion rate of 5% compared to the other one which has a 10% CR. We’ll keep the 10% ad running and create a follow up test”. Usually, this is how it goes.
But, did your decision considered the percentage of ad serve, the number of clicks and conversions, all from a statistical point of view? Most of us don’t look at the whole, because that information is not there. You’ll have to use Excel to analyze ads’ performance further. And we humans, are lazy by nature. If it’s not in the front of us, we probably won’t bother doing some additional spreadsheet work.
And here it is where Google Website Optimizer can help.Wouldn’t be wonderful if Adwords will have a similar interface.Unfortunately, that’s just me innovating and creating imaginary screenshots. The above is not an actual screenshot from the Adwords interface. But imagine if you could create the ads and Google (as it does with Google Website Optimizer) will tell you which ads are going to perform better (from a statistical point of view) either for ROI or CR or whatever metric you chose. Further, imagine you don’t need to browse the slow interface or download reports to know when a test reached its end; you will receive an email from them. And then, with a click you can create a follow up test and test again.

Bing is Microsoft’s latest launch in the war against Google. If you think it will blow Google away, think again. Bing will definitely attract many users, however, since it has solid relevancy as well as key features not offered by Google. Search Results Organized into Categories

Most significantly, Bing breaks down its results into specialized categories, rather than a lump sum. You can drill much more specialized results by clicking on the category links.

One place where Bing fails miserably is planning multi-day trips, such as cross-country drives. It’s nice to be able to add in Point A as the start and Point B as the end. However, when I want to pick a stopping point along the way, say to stay at a relative or at a Motel/Hotel, there is NO insert between point A and B. The user has to make the in between point the new EndPoint and then add the original EndPoint all over again. This could be corrected simply, by adding an Insert point on the map, rather than changing the end or adding on to the end.

Will social media eventually be integrated with the major search engines into one version of search engine marketing? There have been questions and doubt as to whether the combination of the two will ever evolve as an extensive adaptation of their social search technology.

But the popularity of Facebook may speed up the integration process with its report of a 10% gain of around 436 million queries in the latest February search query report while other comparable sites showed a net loss.

Facebook changed the layout design of their home page by moving the search box from the right hand side to the middle of the header. By making the box more visible near announcements and social network updates, it greatly increased Facebook’s latest queries report.

While Facebook continues to grow its popularity from 436 million searches in the latest report, it is still very small compared to Google’s billions of queries. But it is still a significant leap for Facebook and forecasts more possible growth in their user base. Advertisers may consider using PPC advertising on Facebook’s web search instead of social media marketing campaigns, especially since the fan page material and brand profiles are not considered reliable as ROI data due to problems tracking conversions.

Although growth for Facebook also reflects BING’s increase, it is not included in BING ‘s total market share. But Microsoft’s search engine technology runs Facebook‘s web search–their AdCentre platform (the MS version of AdWords) provides paid ads in search results. So the possibility of search engine partnership deals with Microsoft and BING may happen instead of Yahoo or other search engines.

You really have to forget the AdWords sucks rhetoric you hear from  internet marketers because they are dead wrong! Experienced pay per click, (PPC) users, after having their account’s banned, must have made 20,000 posts on forums all over the internet with the same “sucks” title. On one hand, I don’t blame them.

How would you feel if your business was wiped out in a manner of minutes? Yes, it was that severe.

Some people had 5 year old or older accounts banned and they were making ,000-0,000 dollars per month. That’s a huge hit. It’s like losing a long term job except you can’t get unemployment compensation.

And many new people, being trained by out of date techniques wouldn’t even get one ad published and their account was banned just based on the initial website submitted.

Maybe the worse thing about the whole banned mess is that there are still people direct linking and or using weak, thin websites that are nothing more then a bridge to a merchant. Those people are lucky and one day when a human reviews their account, they’ll be gone too.

Agree or not, in my opinion, an AdWords account is essential to making the most money as an affiliate marketer. But you must have a decent web site or don’t bother with Google’s AdWords, you’ll just get banned for life.

The first benefit of course is earning  instant profits. It’s simple. Run an ad, searcher clicks to your web site. Searcher reads your value added content and is warmed up then clicks through to the merchant. Merchant’s job is to sell the searcher on their product. Searcher buys and you earn your commission.

That in itself is POWERFUL.

Here are two other benefits that most PPC people don’t talk about.

First is page rank.

Just by running a value added, good content AdWords campaign, you will get awesome page rank for the landing pages used in your adwords campaign.

This is even more powerful.   You don’t get full value from your clicks as far as page rank goes but you get enough where you can use your time working on other sites without worrying about search engine optimization with your AdWords sites.

The other benefit is practically an instant email list. Using a contact form from a email responder company with a great give away practically equals  instant success. You’ll have clicks that buy and with a great give away, you’ll have clicks that sign up on your email list.

This goes a little against the grain as most internet marketing instructors advise against anything that may prevent your visitor from doing anything other then clicking through to the merchant. Even with a great campaign, many clicks, probably 75% or more, will leave your site within 4 seconds. You paid for them to visit and you get nothing from it.

But, with an email capture form, you will get approximately 20% of that 75% of visitors who leave to leave their email address. This is huge and you’ll earn a good living just from that alone! AdWords is the engine that pulls the train and once you get it going, it’s not going to stop. Unless you get your AdWords account banned so be careful and make sure you use a good website full of great, original content.

You probably are aware of all the ways that you should perform SEO, may be even double in bit of paid Search Engine Marketing or SEM and even getting yourself noticed in Social Media, but what if I told you that you can get # 1 spot on Google for your business locally ? its possible and its free from Google. I recommend every small business and get themselves listed. Getting the top listings in Search Engines such as Google, Yahoo and MSN/Live/Bing are the difference between web leads and no leads. A common misconception is that it costs a lot of money to land the top listings. Additionally, those who are unfamilliar with Search Engines might think there is some mysterious authority that judges which business appear. There isn’t. At least, not anymore. The search Engines are still in a three-way race to win over consumers to become loyal searches; What does this mean for you, as a small business? Free local visibility and well-connected customers can keep in touch with you. For an example you have a business of “Photography”, it can be twice as effective to be first on ” Photography Kolkata”. Consumers now have the tools to give them relevant information, reviews and ratings on local establishments. Anyone with iphone now is connected at the lifeblood f Google with their Maps application and have it a finger’s touch away in safari. Contrasted to five years ago. Google Local & MSN Local Listings were a far cry for entrepreneurs. Now they’re common place for reputation management and consumer experiences. Google and Live Search ( now Bing) has made it incredibly simple for any small business owners to claim their stake in the local, competitive search engine market. Thought a simple submission process, verification, you can blaze to the top of their search engine listings as if yo were always there. Doing this gives your business visibility and the ability for potential customers to find you quickly, no matter how they are trying to find you. By very simple steps you will add your business on Biggest search engines Of World:

MSN/Bing Local Listings:-1. Add your local business to Microsoft’s Directories, doing so requires a free MSN Live account. 2. Wait 3. In About two weeks, your small business listing will appear out on MSN Bing’s Local Business Listings

Yahoo Local:- 1. Add your local business to Yahoo’s Local Directory. Doing so requires a free Yahoo Account. 2. Wait 3. In about two weeks, your small business listing will appear on Yahoo Local.

Google Places:- 1. Add your local Business to Google. Doing so requires a free Google Account. 2. Fill in the details including location, phone number, and services/products offered. Take your time but don’t worry, you can edit it later. 3. Submit your listing and choose either telephone or postal verification. Postal verification takes longer, but is needed if you have a toll free number. I choose postal verification and received this two weeks later. Now, if you simply stuff your Local Search pages with a laundry list of keywords, you have missed the point. It’s about relevance and enabling people to find your business on their terms. It would be a good idea to point to your website. Twitter, Facebook Page and include key local terms that your customers may refer to ( For instance, West Bengal which includes cities like Kolkata, Asansol, Siliguri and Durgapur). If you’re like me, it bothers you when it’s difficult to locate a decent local business, and when you do, website lacks current contact information. Local Search addresses this frustration for consumers. This is probably the best time ever to start a small business. It’s insanely cheap to get started it’s easy to make a difference and there is awesome marketing applications out there to help you grow quickly.

How To Survive in the PPC Google Adwords Market

In Google’s defense, it has to balance two customer bases that can’t exist without each other. On the one hand, there are the searchers. They want good information, relevant search engine (and paid search) results, fast answers, quality content, and no spam (definition open to interpretation). On the other hand, there are the advertisers. They want traffic, as much as they can get and as cheaply as they can get it. There are also some “bad apples” out there that try and get away with underhanded techniques and get rich quick schemes. These are the ones that Google is the most concerned about.

The problem is that the very measures that Google puts in place to protect itself and its searchers from these types of advertisers are the ones that can make it difficult for the well-intentioned advertiser from making Adwords work for them.

Adwords can be a very profitable place to invest your advertising budget. In fact, I make most of my living doing so. The key is to understand the (sometimes unwritten) rules, tips, and tricks to employ in order to keep Google happy. If Google is happy, then your per click costs will be going down, and your traffic will be going up. The added benefit is that making Google happy will generally result in better profitability for you as well. Google is happiest when your ad is getting a high CTR (click through rate, meaning lost of people are clicking on your ad), and the people who click on your ads are satisfied with the information they see on your web site. This makes Google the most money, and should work the same for you. Google measures how “happy” people are with the web sites they visit by how quickly they hit that back button.

Here are my tips to rescue your Adwords campaigns:

Tip #1 Keywords
You don’t have enough of them.
If you don’t have at least 500 – 1000 keywords in your campaigns (and I don’t care what market you’re in), I can guarantee that you’re leaving profitable keywords on the table.
Use one of the keyword research tools like Wordtracker and Keywordtopia. If you plug in your “root” term (the most general term or two that describes your product or market), you’ll be amazed at the things that pop out and have you thinking.
Don’t forget plural versions of existing keywords.
Look for combination multipliers like cities and states…for example, instead of the one keyword of “weight loss center”, use that along with each state, and then add each state along with “weight loss centers” etc.
Brainstorm a bit with friends and colleagues and add in these ideas. You’ll have thousands of keywords in a very short period of time.

Tip #2 Correct Usage of Match Types
There are three match types in Google; broad, phrase, and exact. Check out Google’s Adword’s help documents for a discussion about how each one works.
Most people who are just starting out with Adwords make this mistake. They only bid on the broad match. That is, putting the keyword or phrase by itself with no quotes or brackets around it. In fact, Google has a built in suggestion to start out only using this match type. That is not always sound advice.
I recommend bidding on all three match types (this also effectively triples your keyword list). There is almost no way of knowing which match type will be the most effective for you. You need to try them and track them, then adjust accordingly.

Tip #3 Keyword Grouping
Most advertisers start out with one ad group and stuff hundreds or even thousands of keywords or phrases into it. This does not make Google happy. They immediately think that you can’t possible write relevant ads for all these keywords, and have relevant landing pages etc. So, they tend to give you a low quality score and your clicks will be very expensive (if you can even get your ads running).
The key is to make tightly focused adwords groups. The way that most people do it is by a “theme”. Generally, if all the keywords or phrases in an adgroup can be served by one highly targeted ad and landing page…they are in a good grouping. However, my suggestion is to have one adgroup for EVERY keyword (include all three match types, so every adgroup really ends up having three keywords or phrases). This is a lot of work, but there are tools out there that can help. Google’s own Adwords Editor is free and will help a lot.

Tip #4 Landing Pages
You simply must have targeted landing pages for each of your customers’ “conversations” that are going on when they sit down to search for something.
If you’re doing advertising and trying to capture leads from people who are looking to sell their home in San Francisco, send them to the page that talks about why they should use you to be their listing broker. If you’re capturing leads from people looking into relocating to San Francisco, send them to a page that talks about your expertise in handling relocations and helping people buy homes.
Too often, advertisers capture totally different type of customer leads and simply send them to their home page. This does not make people happy, as they want to continue the conversation they were having quickly…and get answers to their questions and problems, not try to navigate through your web site to find the information. They’re not happy, so they hit that back button in less than 5 seconds. This does not make Google happy, you’ve lost a sale, and Google may penalize you with higher click charges.

Tip #5 Writing your Ads

This could be a whole article in itself. Common mistakes to avoid:
You must try to repeat the keyword or phrase in the ad (this is why keyword grouping is important). Google makes the assumption that if you repeat what the user typed in, your ad is most likely relevant. They will reward this with lower bid prices.
Don’t continue a thought or sentence from one line to the next. Not many people actually read the ads…they skim and click when their eyes are attracted to something.
Capitalize the first letter of every word. This is scientifically proven to increase clicks. Why? I don’t care, and you shouldn’t either…it just works!
Use the display URL effectively, especially if it has the keyword in it. Don’t use wwwwieghtlossclinic com use WeightLossClinic.com. It should be obvious which one draws the eye more.

Tip #6 Split testing
When you set up an adgroup, always write two different ads. You must then monitor them to see which one is performing better. You can literally increase your clicks 3x or more by doing this. It doesn’t matter what you change and make different in your ads. Just change something and always test and monitor.
When one ad can be declared as the winner (search the web for split test calculators to get the statistical answer), get rid of the under performing one and immediately write another new one to try and beat the one that just won.

Tip #7 Content network
I recommend turning the content network off at first, and then taking the terms that have been profitable for you and starting another campaign that ONLY advertises on the content network.
If you do both in one campaign, it can be very difficult to effectively track your keywords’ and ads’ performance, and your return on your advertising investment.

Tip #8 Geographic and schedule targeting
If it makes sense for your markeLuse both.
In our real estate example in San Francisco, you’d want to run two different campaigns for trying to get listings in your area. People searching on “Sell house San Francisco” not paying attention to geography, and people searching on the more general “sell house” …targeting only those people in San Francisco.
Examine all the metrics for using the scheduling feature. There are campaigns, for example, that are only really profitable on the weekends. If you can determine that, then obviously it makes sense to only run your ads then.

Tip #9 Conversion tracking
If you do nothing else, do this. You must track conversions!
If you don’t know what you’re getting for you’re advertising dollar, how can you make good decisions?
If you’re selling a product online, the best way to do this is to use Google’s own conversion tracking. This works very well. It’s a simple bit of code that you, or your web designer can add to your sales confirmation page that tells Google that, for this keyword or phrase, a sale was made. Google stores and reports on this information so that you can go to one place and see what you spent on keywords, and what the return on that investment was.
There are other ways to do this, and it’s a bit more difficult to do if you’re not selling something; however, it’s absolutely mandatory. Do web searches on conversion tracking to learn more.

Tip #10 Bid Adjustments
All keywords are not created equally. You must examine your spend and your conversions for each and every keyword and adjust the bid (individually) for each of them.

In the middle of all heavy publicity that Microsoft is doing is new search engine with the help of Bing Ads of Television, twitter, facebook and what not, Google has already begun to feel the heat. So Google has now launched ‘Explore Google Search’. If you visit the Google homepage today, you will find, beyond the nifty Firebird ballet logo, a link that says “Discovering the web: Explore the world of Google search.”The resulting page “Explore Google Search,” explains an array of Google’s blended search capabilities. It’s almost certainly a reminder by Google that it is also a “decision engine” with features to match.



With this new launch, Google has brought out all the existing feature under one roof by the concept of Discovering the Web.The “Explore Google Search” page itself is useful for novices and experts alike. It succinctly explains, with accompanying video, 16 different Google search features. Until now, the way in which things Google has proposed, there was never really a need for Google to market itself to consumers. 

But in the current scenario, where Bing on the known properties is not necessarily unique to have Bing, Google seriously need it to show that all that Bing shows already existed Google ResearchTake it however way you want, but we can not escape the fact that intentionally or unintentionally this is the first step of Google to the reengineering of its research vertical products and of course the baby steps of Google for the prevention of its user base Bing further is.

Most Google searchers know of some of these features, but probably didn’t know about all of them. It’s a smart reminder by Google of what is possible within its search engine.On clicking the Explore Google Search link, you are taken to new page where you can see an array of things which you can do with Google Search, like Finding out a place’s weather, time and Local Businesses.

Explore Google Search features some advanced search options, like:-

Fill in the Blank Sometimes the best way to ask a question is to get Google to fill in the blank by adding an asterisk (*) at the part of the sentence or question that you want finished into the Google search box.

Package Tracking You can track packages by typing the tracking number for your UPS, Fedex or USPS package directly into the search box. We’ll return results that include quick links to easily track the status of your shipment.

Flight Tracker To see flight status for arriving and departing U.S. flights, type in the name of the airline and the flight number into the search box.

Local Businesses If you’re looking for a shop, restaurant, or other local business you can search for the category of business and the location and we’ll return the results along with a map, reviews, and contact information.

Unit Conversion You can use Google to convert between many different units of measurement of height, weight, and volume among many others. Just enter your desired conversion into the search box and we’ll do the rest.

And lots more.It has also a section for the engineering of assembly Google and tell Friday to read some stories of the hokeysucces of using Google to research to get things done. Heck, there are even easy to use buttons for the parts of the page.
