However, a recent study in Europe has revealed that internet marketing strategies remains flexible even in this time of economic slump and that the online population is growing tremendously which, has helped in increased online sales in Europe. We have to admit it, that internet is the fastest online marketing media available today and therefore, many companies are turning towards it to it to promote themselves and their brand. Web marketing strategies helps European companies reach a larger number of customers worldwide.

Internet Usage and Online Buyers in Europe:

Statistics have revealed that internet usage has increased among the Europeans of all ages. Most of them use the internet for browsing and searching, while others use the internet for e-mail, social networking, and even instant messaging. Most internet users in Europe are also online buyers. This number is slightly on the higher side compared to the U.S. On the other hand, the trend of online web advertising is estimated to increase further by 12 % this year as compared to the last year which stood at 17.2%. With this trend, it only goes to prove that online advertising and marketing will only keep increasing. In addition to online marketing, ecommerce business is expected to rise as well and it is predicted that Europe’s ecommerce business will be at its highest in 2011.

Social Media Trends in Europe:

With the increase of online users globally, the use of social media networking has also gone up. Social media site offers an excellent opportunity to businesses to market their products and services. Networking sites such as Facebook, Linkedin, and You Tube has a large number of business related users. Majority of internet marketers use Facebook as a tool for internet marketing strategy. While on the other hand, Twitter is being incorporated by many as well to promote their company. Other social media sites such as Digg, Delicious are also becoming popular as social media marketing tools.

At present, blog marketing tool has gained popularity among most social media sites which are being used by online businesses. The use of social media optimization has been ranked as the second most important web services and marketing tools that many companies use worldwide. About 25-26% of companies worldwide considered Wiki as a vital tool for online marketing and approximately 30-31% companies around the globe took blog as being the most used social media marketing technique.
